FOR YOUNG SCHOLARS AGES 9 TO 13, the Davidson Institute for Talent Development offers year-long, advanced middle school courses exclusively for Davidson Young Scholars. Curriculum is adapted from the middle school curriculum at the Davidson Academy, and courses are designed and taught by Davidson Academy faculty. Courses run from August through May.
DESIGNED TO BE DIFFERENT than other online courses, YS Online courses are challenging, engaging and interactive. Each week students should expect to spend time completing assignments, readings, test/quizzes, and other activities. Students meet weekly for a Live Session where they might solve math problems together, discuss the week’s readings,
engage in debate, or evaluate lab data. YS courses are not self-paced, and students will
need to access the course regularly throughout the week.
CHOOSE TO TAKE ONE OR MORE COURSES. Young Scholars may apply for courses in English, History, Math, and Science. Applications open in November and close in March. Acceptance
into courses is determined by our curriculum-based assessments.
