Description: West Virginia Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) is a three-week residential program providing individual and in-depth group instruction in the arts for current high school sophomores living in and attending school in West Virginia. Areas addressed are dance, theatre, vocal music, instrumental music, and visual art. Skilled artists/teachers will work with students who demonstrate potential in those areas. In addition, the Governor's School for the Arts attempts to broaden the students' understanding of the arts through interdisciplinary courses focusing on common elements in the arts disciplines.

I'm sure the program has evolved since I attended in Huntington in 1999, and even though I'm not pursuing music professionally, my passion for and understanding of the arts has become so much more refined because of my experience at GSA. I will never forget it, and the people (fellow students and instructors) that I met there. Oh, and having everything paid for was awfully nice!
