I have read four of these mysteries, and they are very exciting. They are also historically accurate, and can be a little bit violent (especially the first book). They have a lot of action, but also a lot of historical facts, for instance, about Mount Vesuvius. The main characters are about eight to twelve years old, and I recommend the books for kids six - twelve, depending on how much they like historical fiction and mysteries.
