Description: For more than two decades, National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC) has led a movement linking youths, educators, and communities to redefine the role of young people in society. That movement is service-learning, and it empowers youths to transform themselves from recipients of information and resources into valuable, contributing members of a democracy. Service-learning is a teaching method that enriches learning by engaging students in meaningful service to their schools and communities through a process that is carefully integrated with established learning objectives. It emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving; takes on real issues such as hunger, homelessness, and diversity; and values people of all ages as citizens with talents to offer.

This is a great leadership/community service agency that can help your Young Scholar get involved with their community.
