||The Masters of Science in Abilities and Disabilities Studies, Gifted and Talented concentration, requires 36 credit hours of coursework. Besides fulfilling course requirements, students must complete a professional portfolio to graduate. The purpose of the portfolio is to provide an opportunity for students to reflect upon the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the Abilities and Disabilities Studies.

The University of Southern Maine offers courses in Gifted and Talented education. Also, the State of Maine offers a yearly summer institute pertaining to G/T education. The courses and institute do not lead to a degree in Gifted Education but qualify towards an endorsement as a G/T Teacher.
