Description: This award is given annually by the Hitachi Foundation to 10 high school seniors who have made a significant contribution to their community. Recipients are invited to an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., and receive a gift of $5,000. This is not a scholarship program and recipients may use their award at their discretion. The award is funded by Mr. Hirokichi Yoshiyama, former president and chairman of Hitachi, Ltd. in Japan, with the hope that these youth will incite positive social change.
