This is a young school that is still evolving. It serves 130+ IQ kids and does meet the needs of gifted children. However, the school does fall short of meeting the needs of highly gifted students since there is such a spread in ability and potential. Overall, the school offers many wonderful programs. The Director leaves almost all teaching up to the discretion of the staff and when a child gets a good teacher, this works out fine. When the child receives a bad teacher, there is no recourse.

Metrolina Regional Scholars' Academy is an outstanding public charter school that serves the needs of highly gifted children. Public charter schools can't provide everything but this one does the very best.

From my experience at MRSA, I disagree with the other comments because if a child needs help no counselor is available. It is well documented that gifted children have social needs and emotional needs that are often above that of regular children.
