The Textbook League

"The Textbook League was established in 1989 to support the creation and acceptance of sound schoolbooks. Our chief activity is the publication of The Textbook Letter (or TTL, as it is called), which we mail to subscribers throughout the United States. The subscribers include classroom teachers, officers of local school districts, officers of state or county education agencies, and private citizens who take a serious interest in the quality of the instruction offered in the public schools. Teaching the Gifted Child (4th ed.)

A classic textbook divided into three general parts: the gifted child and the changing school program, content modifications and information-processing strategies. Read an article by James Gallagher, one of the earliest researchers in the field.

The Examined Life: Advanced Philosophy for Kids

Project 2061: Algebra for all - Not with today's textbooks

This article link reviews the content, pedagogical approaches, and problems with current algebra textbooks. The study includes a chart with overall information about the comparisons, reviews of individual textbooks, instructional criteria, and the criteria used to evaluate each individual text. This link will be helpful to parents in selecting an appropriate algebra textbook for a homeschooling program, although parents of gifted students should keep in mind that the evaluations were based on an age-in-grade, rather than an early, presentation of algebra.
