Davidson Young Scholars - Academic Mentoring

. . . developing a learning partnership that enriches all concerned

The Institute’s academic mentoring program is designed to provide Davidson Young Scholars with one-on-one learning opportunities that will enable them to utilize their talents while learning from an expert in their field of interest.

If they choose, interested Young Scholars can define a challenging project and we will assist the parents to locate an appropriate learning guide or mentor, and develop/implement a set of project blueprints. In the process, "mentees" have a chance to explore an academic area of interest while simultaneously honing their communication, research and project management skills.

If such a partnership is to be successful, a substantial commitment is required on the part of the mentor, the mentee and the mentee's parents.  All three parties must be willing to dedicate themselves to making the relationship productive and enjoyable.

“Our Young Scholar loves having a mentor . . .This very generous young man has been
wonderful to him and they have an email correspondence that is turning out to be a nice
friendship and more. The mentor is like the older brother he never had! Plus the mentor
is brilliant and my son loves the stimulation.”
