Annika's Story

Includes Young Scholars program, Young Scholar Summits and parent eLists, and the THINK Summer Institute.

We joined the Davidson Young Scholars (YS) program when our daughter was 5 years old. In those first few years we only enjoyed the program as a resource for information. She is now almost 11 and the YS program has significantly impacted her life, and ours, in ways that we could not foresee in the beginning!

We have attended annual Summits twice and have become a part of an annual non-official gathering of families who live in the Southeast. These gatherings are particularly special in relationship building for our whole family.

We have received financial assistance for music and academic needs. It is difficult to say how much this has impacted our daughter. Opportunities have been made possible for her that would never have happened without this support.

Most recently, we unexpectedly found ourselves considering the possibility of early college following middle school. Talking via parent eLists to others who have already taken this path has been enormously enlightening.

We are anticipating our daughter taking part of the Davidson’s THINK Summer Institute when she turns 13.

There is no other resource and support system for profoundly gifted students like the Davidson Institute.
