2025 Davidson Fellow Laureate Elizabeth “Eli” Hanechak was recently featured in MassLive for being awarded a $100,000 scholarship in recognition of her project, “Solving the Plastic Problem: Developing a Microbial System for the Bioremediation of Plastic Waste into Drinkable Water and Fertilizer Material.” Her work focuses on using microbial systems to break down plastic waste and transform it into safe, usable resources.
