We moved here for our children to attend Roeper with the greatest of expectations and excitement. It has been both a disappointment and a pleasure.
Our younger son has benefitted from the whole child philosophy and two very loving teachers. He loves the school and enjoys himself immensely. Still, he does most of his core academic work at home. He is in his second year in stage II.
Our older son got much less from Roeper. Despite the vision statement that the school will meet individual needs, it was not able to do so for him. Maybe part of it was the luck of the draw with teachers. He was constantly given work below his ability level. We heard the same comments from them about social issues coming before academics that we had heard in our previous public school at less expense. He spent one full year in stage III and part of another. We were unable to get him appropriate accomodations and chose to put him in public school earlier this year. He has now skipped two full grades and three for math with the plan to move ahead another 2 years for math.
