We researched gifted education in Massachusetts after realizing that our preschooler was not going to be able to have her emotional , social and educational needs met in a traditional school curriculum. Now in her 4th year, I am grateful for this hidden gem and amazed at how every morning, she looks forward to school and has expanded her mind beyond what I could have imagined. In a society so impressed by esthetics, technology and status, this 4 room schoolhouse hidden in a benign structure fosters a positive, non-judgemental and fun approach to learning at a pace customized to each student. I have also found the parents to be a wonderful community of grounded, enjoyable individuals who simply share the common bond of wanting an environment that did not stifle their childs ability to learn, develop, grow... and play.

This is a samll school (non-for-profit) with a very innovative program that has been developed by the founders some 30 years ago. Based on reading and phonics, it fosters kids’ natural curiosity with reading, science etc. It is a very nurturing environment, where respect for each other and dedicated attention to the teacher are an essential part of the school life. Our daughter started in K and our son in pre-K. It is their 3rd year and they love going to school everyday! Wayland Academy also has a great full-time Pre-K program that is affordable compared to full time daycare, and provides so much stimulating joy to the little ones! It is just too sad nobody knows about it because Wayland Academy can be the answer to a lot of parents’ anxious search for a great private neighborhood school.

Wayland Academy is a really hidden gem. My daughter joined this school from pre-school. She is now in second grade. Teachers are great and the school encourages independent learning and realizes different kids learn at different pace.

We have had all six of our children attend this school. You really cannot beat small classroom size coupled with attention to matching curricula to individual students and loving care by the faculty.

This is a wonderful school, a "hidden gem" for gifted students. The teachers are superb and challenge the students at every opportunity, yet they do so in a very caring and supportive environment. We cannot say enough wonderful things about this school!

This school is notable for its extremely committed and caring faculty, who provide challenges in a nurturing environment. It has truly been like night and day (compared with his previous private school) since my son started attending this school.
