I used to teach at Barrie almost 20 years ago. I enjoyed my time there. The campus was great.

My child is in middle school and we find the program to be excellent. The small class sizes and focus on critical thinking are extraordinary. Also the school emphasizes working with different learning styles, which makes it far more flexible than the public schools. We will be continuing through high school here.

This school has recently been through a rough period of change, but it is emerging as an amazing place to be and learn. Over my four years at Barrie, I had some hard times, but overall, I had a lot of fun, and wish I could go back.

I was a student at Barrie Day from preschool through 8th grade. The curriculum through the end of Middle School (6th grade) was wonderful. I do not think that the Barrie junior high/high school curriculum or environment is college preparatory and in fact is detrimental if not dangerous for a student who is interested in achieving.

The Barrie School was at one point a great school. As a former student I can attest to the grave changes that Barrie has undergone, starting first with the poor management and always changing faculty and staff. Over a 10 year period this school has had 5 headmasters. Teachers were also unable to express any opinions of the school's administration and management. I do not want to make it seem like I hated my 7 years at the school - I loved my middle school experience and have fond memories of high school as well. There are a couple GREAT teachers in the high school who have been there a long time and understand how the school should be run. Unfortunately, the board and administration has made terrible decisions, and seem to be more focused on profit than education.
