    Mentor relationships and gifted learners
    This article by Sandra Berger explains what a mentor means, guidelines, questions to ask students, and questions to ask mentors. From th author: "One of the most valuable experiences a gifted student can have is exposure to a mentor who is willing to share personal values, a particular interest, time, talents, and skills. When the experience is properly structured and the mentor is a good match for the student, the relationship can provide both mentor and student with encouragement, inspiration, new insights, and other personal rewards."

    This article, in Q & A format, outlines responses by Dr. Woodbury of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, about his mentor relationship with 2010 Davidson Fellow Laureate Kyle Loh, including how they met each other, successful tips for working with a mentor and other advice. Dr. Allan Dennis has taken a different approach. He's made a career of creating a nurturing musical environment for students from every background and every level of ability."
    Mentors who make a difference: Ken Ono, Ph.D.
    This short article tells the story of Ken Ono, Ph.D., and how he has helped some bright students by mentoring them. "Ken Ono, Ph.D., a professor of mathematics at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, has devoted a significant portion of his career to mentoring talented, young math students, but Ono says that's not something he set out to do."
    Mentorship of the highly creative
    This article details the positive effects of mentoring on a gifted young man. This particular mentorship lasted four years and involved a high school student and two mentors--one of which who resided on the opposite side of the country. "Educators and parents who look for ways to nurture the growth of gifted young people may profit from Jon's [the student] self-reported perceptions of his mentorship experience, and from the perceptions of the two adults who were so fortunate to cross his path. The triangular mentorship developed some interesting nuances that should prove informative to those interested in supporting future scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, and leaders."     Thoughts on philanthropy
    This article by Jan Davidson is an excerpt from an address to the parents of the Davidson Young Scholars at the 2001 Reunion Gathering on July 12, 2001. She shares some her personal beliefs about philanthropy. It also includes some advice from the president and co-founder of the Davidson Institute.
