Step 2: Prepare Application Materials
Short Essays
In the online application, students will need to be prepared to answer the following short essay questions in their own words. Students are encouraged to type their responses in a saved word document prior to applying.
Essays can be copied and pasted in the text boxes within the application. There is no option to upload a document.
Short essays should be in paragraph format. Each response should be 1-2 paragraphs long. We are looking for thorough responses to learn more about the applicant, see that they can write clearly, and share their readiness for the challenge of REACH.
REACH places a strong focus and emphasis on academic challenge and are seeking to accept Young Scholar students who are eager to join our education-based community and seminar courses.
Why do you want to attend REACH and which seminar are you most interested in? Please share a little about yourself and why you chose to apply to REACH and your first-choice seminar. What do you hope to gain from the experience?
Please describe why you are ready for an academically challenging six-day residential summer program which includes living with roommates, three hours of classroom instruction, and up to one hour of homework each day.
Tell us about a time that you experienced a social or emotional challenge. How did you overcome this challenge and how do you think having this experience will benefit you during your time at REACH.
