“Potential” and Talent Development

Davidson Gifted Perspectives is a video series that examines a number of different gifted-related issues and viewpoints.

During a recent virtual event, this parent said something that’s likely on everyone’s mind. “When I see other PG/2e kids who excel in a particular area, I feel like I’m letting my Young Scholar down.” This parent went on to explain that their Young Scholar is good at a variety of things, has big dreams of winning competitions, and has a wide range of interests. 

In general, parents come into virtual events like this one wondering how they can bolster their Young Scholar’s motivation, and to assure themselves that they aren’t setting their kid on the wrong path. Here’s our Director of Family Services with some more assurance and thoughts on the subject.
