Medication and Non-Medication Interventions for ADHD
Davidson Gifted Perspectives is a video series that examines a number of different gifted-related issues and viewpoints.
In a recent virtual event, a Young Scholar family shared a little bit about their medication journey. They are trying different medications for their 2e 6 year-old, and they’ve been noticing that there are trade-offs. They are wondering how long to try a medication for, how many different medications to try, and if there are non-pharmaceutical interventions that the parents can also support their child with. Their goal is for the Young Scholar to improve their focus, but currently, they are experiencing some pretty strong emotional peaks.
Here’s our Director of Family Services sharing some thoughts (which isn’t to be taken as medical advice) on the situation.
