The PG Child and Divorce
Davidson Gifted Perspectives is a video series that examines a number of different gifted-related issues and viewpoints.
Marriage is hard, and marriage with a PG/2e child can be even harder. Divorce is, unfortunately, a topic that comes up in our community. Recently, a parent asked how to help their Young Scholars understand the divorce that’s going to happen soon due to abuse. Because this Young Scholar does have a PDA profile, the parent is worried about the emotional fallout that comes with resisting change and the sibling relationship. The parent also shared that the family is seeking therapy as a part of this life change.
Here’s our Director of Family Services sharing some resources for this family, as well as some thoughts on how to rebuild a relationship with a 2e child after such a big life change.
